ABOUT ME

Purple-Bug Pottery is a new business specialising in stoneware pottery for the home, located in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.

Hi. I'm Lexi, the potter. Let me introduce myself:
After falling into pottery by accident several years ago, I have come to love all aspects of working with clay, from hand-building and wheel work, to exploring glazes and understanding kiln firings. In some ways it's a long way from my years as a teacher, but I love being able to share the ups and downs of working with clay.
Not only has clay become more than a hobby, it has been a lifeline since a nervous breakdown in 2015. I relish the sense of peace of mind I get when immersed in throwing a mug on the wheel or hand-building wee Heilan Coos. I am so grateful to be a potter and this wonderful expression of art has been so impactful on mental health. I just love to share the joy of working with clay.
Living in the heart of The Highlands, I am lucky to have my wee studio in the garden with a stunning vista. My work is inspired by the beautiful Highlands of Scotland, with my two colour ranges called Heather Skies and Highland View having a distinct Scottish influence. Although very different colour ways, they both transport you to the stunning Highland lochs and mountains.
I am the crazy chicken lady, so I am also known for my Wee Creatures: chickens; Highland Coos; haggis; sheep; snails; ladybugs and more. I have also created the amazing Toadstool Treat Dish, which is my take on the ever popular chip & dip bowl. Finally useful decoration!
New for 2025 is the Purple-Bug Pottery Shop. A small, but perfect addition to the pottery studio, where all my pottery is available for purchase, including many items not available on line. I also have a select number of Scottish items created by other talented makers, right here in the Highlands. The shop is open most of the time as it is situated right behind my garden studio.

In order to share the joy of clay, I also offer 1:1 clay workshops, with residential experiences in the planning for 2026. Please e-mail me for further information.
Purple-Bug Pottery is set to offer a captivating and unique experience to pottery enthusiasts.
